Ash Watts has his life exactly how he wants it. He’s finally reporting on high profile stories, has a gorgeous boyfriend and an apartment with a fabulous view of LA. He didn’t think his world could be more perfect until it comes crashing down around his ears. Instead of settling into his brand new corner office, he finds himself on a flight to Freedom, Alabama, population 1872, to bury his only sister. What he finds there are a group of older women known locally as The Coven, a secret his sister had been keeping from him and an honest to God cowboy who is holding onto a secret of his own. Kaleb Gibson was a native of Freedom, born and bred. When Annie Watts breezed into town he’d found the best friend he’d ever had, and her death had left a gaping hole in his heart. When Ash Watts arrives, with the same dark hair and green eyes, he’s in danger of losing his heart all over again, but he can’t forgive the man for neglecting his sister when she needed him most. At the reading of Annie’s Will, Kaleb is shocked when he and Ash are thrown together in a way he never imagined. Then he is left wondering how he is going to carry out Annie’s last wishes without killing her beloved brother, and without revealing a secret from his own past that could destroy everything.

Not a well crafted story. The characters are mostly two dimensional - either in hate or in love - not much in-between. The interaction between Ashdon and Kaleb feels forced or manipulated most of the time, The sex scenes are not all that interesting. There are a few oddities, I guess you'd call them. One is the duvet, constantly in use in the bedroom. In lower Alabama, on days when it is so humid a short walk outside makes one damp with sweat, yet later in the bedroom, they're using the duvet. Not likely. The scene describing the repairs to the ceiling was just wrong, including Kaleb's reactions to the repairs. And then Lisa's British upbringing snuck into the story a bit. It was out of character to have someone from Los Angeles hoping that the rental car had a good sat nav, as though he'd suddenly developed a fondness for Brit slang. There were a couple of other Brit slang slips, such as the bacon sandwiches (at least she didn't say bacon butty). The plot followed the lines of a 1970's soap opera, only with gay characters. Each plot element was even more out of left field than the previous one, and the end it was just a bit of a train wreck. By the time I got there, I really didn't care what happened to whom. I was just tired.Product details

Always Hope Lisa Worrall 9781479346202 Books Reviews
I liked the way the relationship developed, well paced. The inclusion of 'the golden girls' worked well to lighten the mood which could have been depressing given the mourning element of the story. A good quick read.
Always Hope is a wonderful story of second chances, finding love when you least expect it, and hope. I loved the banter between Ash & Kaleb. And the Coven ladies are a hoot!! Another great story from Lisa! )
I read this book a couple of months ago but I really enjoyed it and thought it was a sweet M/M Romance. Loved the small town feeling and how the characters, Ash & Kaleb, fell in love. Definitely recommend this book!! o)
While reading this I felt like I was in the same town as Steel Magnolias. The 3 older women were crazy they made you laugh. The characters were great it felt like they your neighbors. I'm a sucker for love stories. Yes I gave this 5 stars because the author took me away and gave me a small town to live by just like when I was teenager. Thank you Ms. Worrall for the journey!
4.5 A great story with great characters. Both are well developed and suck you right in to the drama and small town live (which may catch you by surprise). Living in a small town, I understand the 'flow of living', the small town secrets (that they/we pretend noboby knows) and how to deal with the "personalities". It's an aquired thing. You get used to it. Kaleb was a part of it and Ash just needed to get used to it too.
I like the book. It was a sweet easy read. I will definitely read more from this author. The end.
Personally, I loved this book. There was so much heart and gut-clenching moments of pain that I cried more than once. I've read quite a few Lisa Worrall books, and I have to say this is my favorite and the best she's written... in my opinion, of course.
Kaleb and Ash were perfect together. There were a myriad of twists and turns. I stayed up late reading, and had to force myself to turn off my kindle so I wouldn't be a giant slub today. (Well, more than usual)
Always Hope has a cast of quirky characters, (Think of the Golden Girls, people) It had everything I enjoy in a book. Characters I care about, heart-felt and real romance, and a battle to get there. Not to mention a satisfying ending. Although... I really wanted a worse punishment for the bad guy of the story. In my full review on goodreads, you can see the other choice words I had about him... They aren't fit P
Anyway, I loved Always Hope.
